Moving requires a great deal of planning and preparation that largely consists of packing personal belongings, says Tim Dell, certified packing professional fromMiami Movers. The most common and important supplies needed are moving boxes. The location of a move has a large impact on the type of moving boxes and other packing supplies that are needed. For instance, Miami moving boxes need to be high quality and must be able to handle hot and humid conditions. There are a multitude of companies that sell moving boxes, so the important thing is to focus on a combination of price and quality for the specific location. Miami moving boxes don’t need to be expensive in order to be high quality, and moving boxes that are expensive do not always equate to high quality either.

Box strength and measurement is extremely important when moving valuables. The minimum rated box strength to use for moving is 32 ECT. ECT is the “Edge Crush Test rating, which basically says that a box is able to handle 32 pounds per inch. Boxes are also made with single walls, double walls, and triple walls. Another important measure for box strength is the Mullen bursting test. The minimum strength for this test is 200 pounds per square inch. The main difference between the two tests is that the ECT measures the stacking strength of boxes, whereas the Mullen bursting test measures the lining boards ability to withstand the pressure from the contents within the boxes. Miami moving boxes need to maintain the minimum 32 ECT rating and withstand 200 pounds per square inch of pressure to be considered appropriate for moving. Certain items, such as kitchenware and other valuables, may need to be packed in boxes with strength ratings higher than the minimum as well.
Miami moving boxes should also be purchased with size as a consideration. Moves that are done alone or with non-professionals, should maintain smaller box sizes. The smaller box size allows for easier loading and unloading. Boxes also need to be appropriate sized to allow each box to be completely filled. Partially filled boxes lead to shipping problems, because the unfilled space puts greater stress on the empty areas of the box that decrease its ECT strength. Used boxes should be avoided, because boxes wear down and weaken over time. As boxes get wet or are exposed to humid climates such as Miami, they have a much higher rate of structural failure. Also, the glue that binds the main connection seam on the side of the box becomes significantly weaker over time as well.
Once the boxes have been purchased, they must be packed appropriately. Empty spaces put unintended stress on the boxes, which can cause them to break or collapse. Properly padding the contents of the boxes is equally important as well. Bubble wrap is a commonly used packing material as it is lightweight, durable and effective. Professional moving grade tape should then be used to properly seal the boxes. Finally, the boxes should not be over filled, as this takes away from the protection the box should offer for the contents.
Miami moving boxes can make any move significantly easier. Buying a few boxes at a time helps to avoid not being able to find enough boxes on the moving day, and it also helps ensure a large variety of boxes are able to be obtained for all types of items. By obtaining boxes with the proper size, durability, and strength, possessions are sure to be safe and secure during a move in Miami.
