Moving Day Boxes Honors Earth Day

Going Green With Moving Day Boxes

Earth Day was April 22nd and events have been going on all week as people come together to show their support for going Green and saving and preserving our Earth for the generations to come.

We here at Moving Day Boxes wholeheartedly support the Green Movement.

Our moving boxes are 100% recyclable. Cardboard is the single largest component of your average city’s landfill and reducing the amount of cardboard headed for the dump is an important part minimizing the negative impact our lifestyles have on the earth. As our landfills continue to become more unmanageable every year, we can begin to see how each individual’s effort to recycle is affecting our earth. (For an inside peek at cardboard recycling visit our recycling page.)

Recyclable and BiodegradableOur moving boxes are also 100% biodegradable and can even be used to make a bed for your garden (more information about that at http://www.movingdayboxes.com right next to the Recyclable and Biodegradable symbol).

I think we all know what it’s like at times to be a bit overwhelmed with the demands of our modern lives, but it’s worth considering how you can be your own recycling center and save money, too! Try not to be on automatic when you’re discarding items in the trash and ask yourself how else you could put them to good use at home or at work. With a little ingenuity you can use items that would have gone in the trash to solve problems that you would have had to throw money at otherwise.

Here’s a few ideas for re-using your moving boxes after you’re done with them just to get you started:

Large moving boxes can become an incredibly fertile playground for young children. They’re lightweight to carry and it’s fairly easy to change their shape and size. With a little imagination they could become a fort in the old west, a fairytale castle or a deep space station on Mars.

They can be broken down and opened up to make great flooring for messy projects, whether it’s an arts and craft projects for the kids or changing the oil out in the garage.

They can become the bone structure for an arts and craft project themselves. Turn them into frames for photos, doll houses, dog houses or Halloween costumes.

And they always simply make a great way to carry things.

I keep hearing that Earth Day should be everyday, and I do think that’s the real test for going Green. It’s important that the commitment be a daily one and that our annual Earth Day serve merely as a reminder to step it up and try even harder.

Here’s to a greener tomorrow!
