Moving Boxes Durability – Moving Boxes Versus Packing Boxes

Customer submitted question: How are moving boxes different than packing boxes?

This is a great question. Typically shipping boxes have to go through and abnormal amount of abuse so they are double-walled to be extra sturdy. Almost all moving boxes are single walled. While moving boxes do have to go through a lot of abuse, you usually put them through the abuse. That is you or a mover you hire is putting the boxes in a truck. And while the envirmonent in a moving truck is hard on moving boxes, it is not nearly rough compared to what a box shipped through a major carrier goes through. Shipping boxes typically go through major distribution centers where they are often thrown on conveyor belts and other industrial equipment. Also shipping boxes usually spend more time outside.

Our Wardrobe Moving Boxes are double-walled similar to a shipping box. The reason is that our wardrobe boxes are meant to be portable closests rather than just a temporary moving box.

In summary you can use moving boxes to ship items; coutless people do. Just be sure to use packing paper to insulate your belongings from the bumps along their journey. Good Luck with your move Ann, and thanks for choosing Moving Day Boxes.
