Moving boxes are the standard and most efficient way to pack dishes and glassware. In the old days many novice movers would use cell dividers. However these are no longer used by most professional movers. The reason why is that cell dividers have too much room between the glass ware. This room causes the glassware to shift during your move.

For a local move where you are moving yourself and you know that the box with cell dividers is extremely fragile, it is alright to use the cell dividers. However when you are hiring a mover, especially for a long move, standard moving boxes are much preferred. Simply warp your glassware in packing paper and put in a small moving box or a medium moving box. Make sure the box is light enough to carry. Remember it is better to have many small moving boxes rather than a few.
